The cello was a love at first sight to me. At the age of four I held the cello in my hands for the first time at the Basel Music Academy - since then the sound of this wonderful instrument has become my voice and it has accompanied me through the most varied stages of my life.
With exhilarating passion, Anna Abbühl sweeps her audience away into her world of music. Born in Basel into a family of musicians, this established her love for music from her youngest years. She chose the cello at an early age, and began lessons with the cellist and composer Alfred Knüsel, and soon continued to be a prizewinner at national and international competitions. She received many important impulses participating in master classes with Cellists such as David Geringas, Frans Helmerson and Arto Noras throughout Europe. She completed her Bachelor's degree with distinction in the class of Antonio Meneses, followed by two further years of studying in Finland at the Sibelius Academy. Anna is currently completing her masters degree in Basel with Danjulo Ishizaka.
Anna is not only active as a soloist, but as a passionate musician has also been involved in various chamber music formations for many years. She is co-founder of the Equilibris piano trio, which regularly performs on stages in Switzerland, throughout Europe and Russia.
